The shoe brand founded in 1975 by Andrea Santoni, today exists with a portfolio of mono brand stores across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and North America.
Its first India store location at Emporio, Delhi in 2019 is in keeping with the brand’s DNA with its signature bronze mirror wall dividing the boutique in two areas. Following architect Patricia Urquiola’s interior design, it is very nearly parallel to its New York, Miami or Milan locations where color, detail, material are carefully composed.
The lighting however, deviates from the general norm of ‘flood-lighting’ the merchandise with extensive spotlights; and is a case in point of how brands stress on elaborate packaging and store design but dramatically underestimate the role of lighting in pushing sales.
For Emporio, we relied heavily on creating a visual hierarchy through the lighting. Deploying a range of lighting strategies, we sought to guide the eye, and create heightened levels of attention at strategic points
